Lupo DayLED 1000 Fresnel
The Lupo DayLed 1000 has an exquisitely designed 150mm fresnel lens, a small, circular, neat LED and comes with a flood & spot control. They are built to stand the rigours of professional broadcast use and as one University client put it “These lamps are student proof”. The 1000 housing is made from carbon fibre reinforced polymer and is built to last a lifetime. The LEDs are very efficient and robust. They have a expected life span of over 50,000 hrs, making the 1000 a great purchase with a fast return on investment.
All 1000 models, the 3200k, 5600k and variable colour deliver industry leading colour rendering index values. The lamps are fully dimmable from zero to 100% and are pre configured for DMX use.
The lights run with very low power consumption and are extremely well suited to run on battery power. This makes them ideal for news crews and production teams shooting on location. Lupos have a broadcast industry standard 4 pole XLR socket for battery connection from a standard 14.7V battery plus a mains power lead.
The LED bulb/powercell fitted into DayLED lights are way more reliable than glass bulbs and have a life expectancy of more than 50,000+ hours, so you will never have to worry about having to replace them.

LUPO fixtures use special LEDs developed exclusively for Lupo with “True Colours” technology that offer a far better colour rendition than has previously been possible.
The colour rendering index (CRI) or (TLCI) of an LED light source is it’s most important characteristic as it determines how naturally reproduced the colours of the objects it illuminated are rendered.
LED lighting fixtures by LUPO have a CRI value higher than 94 and some as high as 97. This means that they emit higher quality light, that can easily be mixed with sunlight or incandescent light sources.
Typical chromatic spectrum of a LUPO “Tungsten Balanced” LED illuminator.
Normal LEDs use only yellow phosphors in combination with blue emission chips that generate low CRI values and generally unpleasant green casts.
“True Colours” LEDs used in LUPO lights use a particular mixture phosphors made up not only of yellow phosphors but also of red and green ones that allow the light to reach very high CRI values.
These independent spectral analysis tests were conducted by Alan Roberts in January 2015
Lupo Power Lead Options
Each Lupo comes from the factory with a fixed mains lead 3 metres long fitted with a standard domestic three pole mains plug of your choice.
For a small extra charge you can opt for a separate 5 metre or 10 metre mains lead with an inline connector placed at 150mm from the lamp housing. The inline connectors are the excellent PowerCON TRUE1 by Neutrik. Other power connectors including industry standard blue top 16A are available upon request. Read what top commercial fashion photographer Tom Museeuw wrote about this option here.
PowerCON True 1 specification:
- True mains connector with breaking capacity (CBC)
- Lockable 16A single phase connector (USA: 20A)
- Dust and water resistant according to IP65 in mated condition
- Easy and reliable twist lock system
- Extremely robust and reliable
- Unique Neutrik cable retention
- ENEC certified according to IEC 60320
- UL recognised components
Power Lead Plugs – UK, EU or USA
Lupo lights come with a choice of plug types. Choose between USA 3 pin (plug type B), European 2 pin plus earth (plug type F), or UK 3 pin (plug type G). Refer to this chart for identification. http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/
Lupo LED lights are 90-240v, 50hz or 60hz auto sensing units and will work in most countries.
In the video above Damien Lovegrove shows how the PowerCon True1 leads attach to the Lupo light units.
Colour Temperature Options
The Lupo 1000 and Lupo 650 are available in 3 colour temperature variants. 5600k Daylight balanced, 3200k Tungsten equivalent balanced and Dual Colour (variable).
The Dual Colour or variable version can be set anywhere between 3200k and 5600k by adjusting the rotary control on the dimmer unit box. The display on the dimmer unit switches to show you the Kelvin value while you are dimming the Light. The light output stays at a constant level throughout the colour temperature range and the CRI stays at over 95 too.
Watch this video for a full explanation of the variable colour temperature option.
Lupo Battery Power
Due to their very low power consumption the Lupo DayLED 1000 and Lupo DayLED 650 can run on battery power as well as mains power. Here are a couple of options you can choose from:
Lupo Battery Kit – V-Mount lithium-ion battery, adapter plate, charger & lead
V-Mount Battery Adapter Plate and D-Tap Power Cable
